Smoothie King Recipes

Smoothie King was founded in 1973 by Steve Kuhnau, as a side business in his health food store. Juice King’s Mission Statement says it all, “To relentlessly influence and help more & more people achieve a healthier lifestyle.”

According to its website, in 1989, Smoothie King was named the #1 smoothie franchise by Entrepreneur Magazine. Jamba Juice has now usurped Smoothie King’s dominance boasting approximately 800 retail locations compared to smoothie King’s 700. However, Smoothie King is significantly more popular in Asia with its new CEO, Wan Kim, pushing to dominate the rapidly growing region. Although founded as a small privately owned business, Smoothie King is now a corporate power house and recently secured $58 million in capital earmarked for growth from institutional investors.

The following smoothie recipes are either exactly the same as, or a close approximation of, the actual Smoothie King recipes used at their retail locations. For your convenience, we have also included a list of enhancers and supplements that mirror Smoothie King’s add-ons.

Equipment Needed

A standard blender is all that is required to make Smoothie King smoothies. If you are making it for just one person, we recommend using any one of the many available NutriBullet blenders as they are quick to set up and very easy to clean.

If you are making them for more than one person, we recommend a higher-end Vitamix blender that can process larger loads more efficiently.

For overnight storage, we recommend using a glass or BPA-free airtight container with a resealable lid.

Smoothie King Caribbean Way Recipe

Smoothie King Caribbean Way

Smoothie King Caribbean Way recipe tastes like a sweet and refreshing tropical island-themed vacation beverage. This recipe will show you how to make one.

Prep Time 1 minute
Cook Time 2 minutes
Total Time 3 minutes

Ingredients

Instructions

    1. Place banana, strawberries, papaya nectar, turbinado sugar, and ice into a blender and secure the lid.
    2. Start the blender on its lowest speed and steadily ramp up to its highest speed. This will reduce wear and tear on the motor and blades, facilitate a more consistent blend, and help prevent food splatter onto the lid and sides.
    3. Blend for approximately 30 seconds or until a smooth consistency is achieved.
    4. Pour into a glass for immediate refreshment or place in the refrigerator in an airtight container to enjoy later.

Notes

  1. For ease of use, we recommend peeling and slicing a number of bananas, putting them in a freezer bag, and storing them in your freezer for quick access.
  2. If you don't have frozen fruit, or simply prefer to use fresh fruit (we totally get that), we recommend adding 1/2 cup of ice to chill your smoothie and give it a pleasing icy texture.
